Looking for a White Steering Wheel from a 1967 Caribbean Galaxy runabout. Also the chrome nose handle and the rear corner gunwale caps.
Cheers

Hi riverrat,
Our member NT looks like he is about to purchase a Classic Austrailan Outboard Runabout which has the same steering wheel that you are trying to dig up.
Have a look at his pics so you will know what you are looking for!

The boat he his looking at may even be the same hull as yours too?

Nice spotting.
This could be a Galaxy. Note the planet logo on the rear behind the rego number. The steering wheel is virtually identical to the one I had. The dash on this one is older in design than mine I would think. The corner gunwale protectors are identical but the rear gunwale cap does not extend all the way to the engine bay as it does on mine. The windscreen is exactly the same, the colours would be the same and the seat frames look like they are identical as well.

The deck is almost an exact replica but the bow hull shape is more rounded from windscreen to nose(same gunwale rubber) which suggests a year or maybe two earlier than 1967.

The soft top and bow rail would not be original.

HI MERCMAN

I take back what I said about the Planet Logo. That was the Dorsett Logo. Was that a reference to the other Ski Park at Dorsett Gardens? I think it predated Caribbean Gardens.

It's a ride guide steering wheel used in the early sixties.
One sold on Ebay a few weeks ago. Also check out auto swap meets. You'll adventualy find one. They are solid alloy and are easily restored, bead blasted and repainted.

Mark is correct,
Ride Guide is the name of the Steering System which was markeded under Mercury's accessory brand - Quicksilver.

Porter Rix's Boston Whaler on "Flipper" had one of those steering wheels too!
Gee I loved that show when I was a young boy.
I think that's what got me into boats and SCUBA diving in a big way.

Here's a black ride-quide steering wheel at a reasonable price. The white ones are harder to find.
