I reckon that should be mounted right up at the bow, perhaps hanging between you deckrails, and then it could counter the weight of the Johno's and you wouldn't need any foam under them.

I have sent SX-2 away to be professionally re fibreglassed below the waterline .
It is too much for me now .
Coincidences :
The guy doing it lives two doors away but his workshop is in Bankstown.
SX-2 was built in Bankstown in 1961 a few hundred metres away on Canterbury Rd .
The original twin Johnsons were supplied from Hoskins Ave ,a few hundred metres the other end of his street .

On a different note ,as I have had the girl for 20 years I took the opportunity to try to contact the original owner through his business he started in 1946 .
Duralux  Paints ,before Dulux and  still going, as he is .

His son has responded enthusiastically and over a number of communications is very keen on 'the board' and has been supplied some historical photos .

As I about to repaint the topsides I attach some original photos  with the idea to go the that way again .
It looks like a boat of today's style even though it is 54 yrs old .  Cool

What do you think?
The curved 1961 or the current straight line ?

It looks a lovely boat on the water. I quite like the curved 1961 style. I look forward to seeing yours back on the water sometime.

Has yours been fiberglassed over the whole outside at some stage, and only needs to be redone under the waterline, or has it never been fiberglassed?

And, Neil, your boat is actually older tha me!!

G'day Neil,
They are great pics indeed. I particularly like the "curved line" It seems to be more in-keeping with that era.
Our best wished to both you and Kerrie for Easter. We have 9 people staying with us over the break... it's gunna be big!

It will be back in the water soon  A ?

Procrastination is the guardian of time ! Grin

It was only fibreglassed below the waterline. A late decision as fibreglass was only being introduced at the time and laid by hand . Hence the demise of plywood boats  Sad
It has de-laminated over time .

You've got time before your bottom needs plastic surgery  Wink

Thank you Guy -Gee another big party .No wonder you go on so many cruises to get away from them ! Grin

Sure is a nice looking and desirable boat.
Minor issue in detail, but I like the curve.

Just in case you still need some convincing  Wink my vote goes to the 61 style curve also.

I keep going back to that pic and think it looks great.

Thank you Spiro .

It is hard to go past it but I have had this craft for 20 years in varnished form and always assumed it was the original décor until I recently contacted the original owners family .  Still coming to terms with that pic . Lovely  Kiss

I am pleased you agree as I like to keep to the original ,as you do with your O/bs , with a bit of style and class .

Trust your busy orthodox Easter was as you wished .

'61 curve it is !

Cheers , Neil

An update :
Haven't solved the motor problems yet but there is time and I will get them fully serviced before she hits the water.
Photo attached of the new below waterline - I couldn't have done a job like that so worth the money !

Also the new instrument panel.
Taken from a plank of maple I have made a new home for the retro instruments
Wiring is not done yet and I will seek advice on some of it soon .
Do we have a specialist on the Board to take me through a conversion from pull/push to a power socket etc ?

Cheers
