Im working at the Maritime museum at the moment helping with the festival. If anyone is interested in bringing their runabout to the classic and wooden boat festival please let me know. Contrary to popular belief the festival isnt just for wooden boats. Your boat does have to intersting and well presented though. Even a display of classic outboards. Dave 0413766501

To all the lads in Sydney this is a wonderful experience!
I shall be there again.
SX-2 is registered with the ANMM but as she is still undergoing restoration
she will not be there this year.

Maybe a few of us could meet there?

As bootlegger says it is not just wooden boats they are classic.

You read my mind Neil,
I was thinking the same thing earlier, until I realized the show was on the same weekend I've organized a 4x4 camping weekend West of Maruya with five 4b's following me.
I'd be dead meat if I didn't turn up, I set up this trip for everyone well before Christmas. Cry

Perhaps you can meet up with Rob, Bootlegger, Newboater, Akadakaar, Caribbean, Darracol, Aristocrat? I'm sure at least 3 if not more of those members will be attending.

G'day John,

It's a Dry Lakes Racers of Australia (DLRA) event (Speed Week) held at Lake Gairdener SA around 2 hours SW of Port Augusta, you leave the black top at Iron Knob. Actual dates are March 3rd - 7th.

Afer attending the 50th anniversary of Bonneville I was hooked but have never been able to make it to the DLRA event.

Cheers,
Rob

Hi All,
This is my preferred type of boating so I should have thought about it earlier as a meeting possibility. Unfortunately it is not an annual event.

Where might you be Dave so we might have a starting point?

I  plan to go Saturday morning with two of my grandchildren (maintain history) to avoid the larger crowds. It used to be open on the friday which was bliss.

Pity again Guy but you should enjoy Moruya, the mountains and maybe the Araluen valley  and Deua river.

Catch you when the mud cracks!

Thank you Dave ,
O.K. will call you upon arrival and see the lay of the land.

Others may want to do same so maybe later there can be some coordination as to time and place.

For those lucky enough to be going to the festival, here is a list of our members that I believe will be attending. (in no particular order)

Bootlegger - David
Rob            - Rob.  (I believe the lake is somewhat soggy)
Senojn       - Neil.
Woodnut    - Greg
Caribbean  - John
I also feel Darrocoll and ttg might be there as well??
I haven't heard from Newboater or Akadakaar as yet.

In an earlier post on this subject, David kindly suggested once the members arrive, give him a call on 0413 766 501 in order for you all to meet up.

Make sure you all take plenty of shots of all the members together, and shots of the boats of course!

Once the event is over we will set up a special category on The Board, so our the members can post their favorite photos of the 2008 Classic & Wooden Boat Festival.

Have a great day fellers!

MERCMAN.
