Hello all.
This Aircraft is the only one of it's type still flying in Australia. 336 0164
It's located at Moorabbin Airport, Melbourne Victoria, but it can be seen also at Flinders Island Airport Tasmania. It has new props and a recent O/H rear engine. The front is on condition. Here it is with new paint, but wheel farings are to be fitted.

David

A plane that looks very similar to this has just gone missing (17/11/2007).
Hoping everyone is found safe and well.

Just wanting to let you know that it's not me. My plane is in Yarrawonga being painted. I must say I had a lot of calls. There a many similarities, but it's a Cessna 337 that is missing. That is the retractable undercarriage version of mine. So to all that had a fright thank you for the concern and I also hope they are found OK.

Hi Chair.

I've been told the early models of the 337 and the 336 had overheating problems of the rear engine. have you had any such problem? Or have modifications been made?

I think the later models had the air intake scoop enlarged.

For anyone wanting to watch a movie called "Bat21" staring Gene Hackman and Danny Glover feature this plane or the military variant the O2 Birdog

Yes it is true that the rear on the type runs hotter than the front, but 46 years in service is a good indication that it's not an insurmountable problem.

Hi boys I posted this with a link to our board on A 336 message board. That was the only pic I could find at the time, but I found a lot more of this aircraft in the bush near Cooli QLD. I picked up most of the moveable bits as spares and some are heading back to the QLD air museum to be re united with another 336 CMY they have acquired for show perpose only.
Will fill you in as we go.
