I doubt that NSW/Vic had similar no. sequences .We tried valiantly to tie rego no. to track boat manufacture dates but unfortunately it was of little help  Sad
If it does keep popping up everywhere you save rego fees and just add the state suffix  Grin

Re my girl -I am looking to stylise the N so it meets requirements but stands away from the SX 2 .

Hi neil,
I certainly agree that NSW/VIC did not have similar number sequences.
I'd say whats occurred here is: the vessel has crossed over the border from VIC to NSW at some stage and the owner has requested to keep the previous VIC rego numbers but simply add the add the "N"
This would have not been possible if the initial VIC numbers happen to match the same numbers already issued (and current) within the State of NSW.
Luck was on his side.

I really like your idea about SX-2            N
