Hi Im new to this site and I must say it looks like a great site I just have a few questions about a savage Tasman. I have a quintrex breezabout 4 metre tinny I put a new 40 hp 2 stroke Johnson on it a few years ago but Ive never been that happy with the boat it flies but its too rough so I didnt want to sell the motor because I will lose to much money on it. I want a little half cab I found a savage tasman that needs to be repowered I just want to know if a 40hp will push a tasman ok? I dont want to bake any speed records just want it to get places in a resonably time and get on the plane. Jeff Webster reckons it weighs 302 kilos plus me and my brother are 100 kilos each. Any help would be great. I would buy a bigger motor but I was meant to sell my boat to fund the arrival of the baby but I think ill manage not selling it. cheers Tristan PS are Tasmans a good boat?HuhHuh??

Hi Tristan and welcome to The Board.
A newer 40hp Johno is about equal to a 50hp motor of yesteryear for reasons I won't bore you with now.
Therefore, your motor should get you by for a while.
Remember you can always buy a different pitch prop (even 4 bladed if need be) for that extra oomph to get you onto the plane quickly!
