Here are some shots of Bootleggers beautiful little vessel built by Hunts Marine of Blakehurst NSW.
We hope to be able to bring you the history of the two timber vessels which John Hunt had manufactured in the early 1960's, very soon.

Hi Bootlegger,
Earlier today, Peter Hunt told me your little boat was built by a fellow who was contracted by Hunts Marine to build the "Unique" clinker vessels for them back in the early 60's
Peter comissioned Sid Bryce to build 2 or perhaps 3 little runabouts in ply rather than the more expensive clinker, in an effort to compete with the new fangled fiberglass market.

Unfortunately, fiberglass won.

Thanks for that mate. Powerboat magazine did an article on this boat and said it was built by an ex Fokker employee and 11 hulls were built. If there were only three built I knew of another hull (s;ightly different) up at a Katoomba antique store. It was burnt in a fire after the receivers moved in. Mine could possibly be the last one left. I wish I could get some of those chrome Marlins that were screwed to the side. Dave

Hi Dave,
Peter did speak of the Fokker fellow. However, Peter was quite sure yours was not built by the Fokker guy because of some quirks your boat has.

I recall the fire you mentioned, I think it was Rob posted something about it.
