Hi All,

I was just wondering if there was any information available about a Savage Astra, i purchased this boat from my uncle and wanted to know some history about this model and if anyone has had one before and what feedback they have.

It is a little weathered and i am looking to make it my project to restore it and have not been able to find much information about this model.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

G'day JB.
I'm unaware of an Astra.
Perhaps if you post some pics it might just rattle the "grey matter".

G'day Mercman,

I have found some photos on one on the net that is similar to mine, just have blue pin stripe and a johnson 115 on the back.

Hopefully this will jog the memory, as i dont think there are too many of these around anymore. The reason for my request on info and history of this model is that i want to restore it and find out the pros and cons for this model.

Yeah havent been able to find out any informaton on this model or boat.

It is a great boat with high sides and is solid, but i wanted to find out if anyone else has had one or has info on them.

Not sure how many where made but have only seen two or three on the net.

The Savage Astra H/cabin cruiser was made between 1978-1983.
Length 5.03m
Max HP 140

That's all the info I have.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the info.

So 1978 - 1983, good years those ones, i was born in 1980.

Did you have any personal experience with the Astra?

Where did you dig up that information?

Hi JB,

I've got a couple of old boat dealer's guides.

I can't recall ever seeing one before. Probably not a lot made.

Hi Mark,

Nice, i must be lucky that you can recall that guide and still had it handy seeing that they were made in that era.

If there were not many made then i suppose it would make it a good thing (Hopefully).

Do you know what the predecessor of this model is? Was there any information about handling.

Someone told me on a forum that they have the same hull design as the V17, but me not knowing alot about boats didnt help much.
