Probably this is the Twin.............It looks nice though the pics a a bit iffy and where is the Tiller?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140433778893&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

The tiller is the ONLY bit that makes these things complete and usable...........once lost, so is all. They have a unique fitment shape casting.

What is the model number and is it Illinois or Queensland motor?

$200 starting bid is probably the high end for what an old motor like this would be worth history unknown. Basic service parts would be another $200 in bits (Available) and probably say 8 hours labor to get useable.

Note!  Corrosion and mechanical is never a problem with these.

Bad point is that if the wear plate for the water pump is stuffed (Not available) into the gear case.....................throw the gearbox away keeping the internals for spare parts.

Actually, I am just doing service works on a CD 15 Johnson 1958 which is basically the same as this Evinrude. I reckon it is a "59".

Anyway, maybe some pics as to how something, so well engineered, cleans up after 52 years. These are just the top end at the moment. All bits are available as I said.

But, expect the coils to be toast!  That is parts for a start.

Everything cleans up well though, you just have to be interested...............

and just before setting 180 degree point orientation

Regards

It's a 1958 18hp fastwin.
Missing the tiller handle or not, I'd love it in my collection. Pitty it's so far away or I'd be bidding on it.
Anyway it was quite common for 18hp's to be installed with forward controls back then, then the tiller handle would be taken off (and probably lost).

Bid away Mark, I'll pick it up for you. Smiley
I'm sure we'll be able to get it to Melb' over time, without too much hassle.

I got the Evinrude Fastwin. Looks like no-one wanted it. These don't come up for sale very often.
I'll let you know next week when it's paid for.
Thanks for the encouragement and assistance fellas.
