This is the same model motor I cut my boating teeth on in the early 60s. Dad had it on a very early Savage and then a Mouldcraft. The colour is original and the whole rig would be worth doing up. I'm sure the Collector will give you all the info to get it original. I think it was rated at about 5hp but more infor from the above will confirm this.

Hi Captain

Yep, you have a mid production Fisherman Model GA-1F. 4 Hp.

The engine number is behind the carb on the lower part of the crankcase.  SS-XXXX.

The carb you have is a common retrofit from an early Victa lawnmower. Sort of works but not really efficient.

If your motor is useable after having a check over, I suggest that you do not use this carb.

Yours would have had an Amal Two Jet carb like below.

Very first ones had the Australian copy SKC two jet as below.

I suggest that a Villiers carby from a British Seagull would be ideal as they are found on Ebay quite often. They have adjustments for needle for mid throttle.

They will be jetted already for pint oil per gallon.  (10:1) Do NOT cut back on the oil quantity.

Yes, the colour scheme on your motor is all original too.

Normal experience and care, prop will be fine welding.

Regards

C.I.

I may have made a blue with your expected engine number!!!!!!

Those starting with "SS" should be for the Sea Scout and xxx only got into 3 numbers.

Yours should be something like LF-X-XXX/X
