Jessica is a real champ. Be buggered if I'd even dream of such a wild feat.
My guess is... because of the controversy leading up to the commencement of her journey no one is really admitting they are following her progress. I for one, log on each and every day but not too many people I know are real keen to discuss her attempt with me... are they affraid she will come to harm...maybe? Perhaps they just want her to complete the trip before they become too excited for her? Your guess is as good as mine on this subject.

Last month, there was a tradgic yachting accident off the coast of Wollongong NSW which took two lives.
I knew one of the deceased reasonably well, plus two of my good friends where crew members onboard the Maxi at the time of the incident.
Jessica was actually staying in Sydney as a guest of the Skipper of the Yacht involved, that's why the start of her voyage was delayed for so long. That accident took the wind out of everyones sails, even people remotely connected with the sailing fraternity, and of course Jessica was deeply troubled by it.

Now that she is well on her way safely, we may well see the people of Australia start to admit they follow her and her voyage on her website on a regular basis. Her website actually receives zilloins of hits per day as you probably know!

Kay Cottee, Jessie Martin and Jessica Watson.. they are all heros in my book.

Time has certainly flown by since Jessica set sail from Sydney in October.

In that time, she has shown the World her skill and courage.
So far she's endured two knockdowns during storms plus various storm damage to equipment and rigging. At one stage she even went to the top of the mast to conduct a wear inspection.

Presently, Jessica is back in Australian Waters, almost beneath Victoria and about to round the Southern tip of Tasmania before returning to Sydney via the East Coast of NSW.

Sadly, I won't be in Aus' when Jessica returns to Sydney.  I'll be on the high seas, sailing the South Pacific.. somewhere.
I trust there will be a huge flotilla on Sydney Harbour to welcome her back. I just wish I could be in two places at once.

I concur MERCMAN a magnificent effort. Almost unbelievable and it will silence all the critics of the project .

I've just been experimenting with Google  Earth .
Try moving the Earth away from you a little to fit it in the  screen comfortably.
Then invert it so that you can just see Antarctica at the top.
Then with your mouse/cursor spin it slowly either way.
You will see all the heavy bits at the bottom but look at all the ocean Jessica has to cover!
