Gíday Neil
I find that really interesting. We think of that tech more recent. I bet It cost a small fortune in the day.

Hi and welcome Darryl
I did my 64 Merc and stripped the head back to metal but not the lower section. I painted the head with two pack and it came up beautifully and lasted for years
The lower section I just rubbed back and used single pack enamel. It was never as good as the stripped section.
Preparation is always the key. I suppose sand blasting would be quicker as it took a lot of stripping
These are my thoughts but others may have better ideas. Canít remember the paint brand I used.

Hello all, It's been a long time since I've been active, but I have the bug (again) I have been looking for a G3 for ages having missed out on the only Victorian specimen that strangely vanished from its home in Newcomb Geelong some years ago. A board member found this on Gumtree in Perth WA and I purchased it for $500. It was stored over there for a few years but I had it transported early this year to Melbourne. It is in surprisingly good condition (solid) and the fittings are included. The motor came off my Stylecraft that I sold some years ago and I wacked it on to transport the lot to its new home on Flinders Island. It is now in Bridport Tasmania after travelling across on the Spirit and then it will catch another ferry to Flinders Island. I am relocating full time to Flinders Island where I will give the rig a total rebuild. I hope to inform you all of its progress

More research, I found this in some raw 16mm footage of the 1956 Olympic rowing that was at Lake Wendouree. I scanned every frame and saw many red Johnson outboards but this one caught my eye. Its not red but appears the same colour as the varnished hull. It looks very similar to my gold Johnson

Lovely boat, but I don't think it's a Crosby. The Crosby is about 16'6 I think. The Eldorado was smaller.

If it is a Savage Gull, better it is an old one as the later ones had a terrible Vee bottom and very unstable.

What a great opportunity for you lucky Westerners. Hope you take some pics and Vids to share. Maybe the other states could hop on Board one day.
